After searching through the posts I see that it is pretty unlikely for RIRs to go broody. I also have Barred Rocks - will they? What are the signs to watch for?

Thanks!

Some barred rocks will go broody. They'll start making a clucking type sound and will ruffle their feathers and growl if you approach them.

Ok thanks, so I have hope *whew*.

LOL

I was wondering if I was gonna have to put an add out to borrow someone else's Broody Hen.

Go figure - one of my Barred Rocks decided she was good and ready to sit on a nest-full of eggs, followed quickly by one of my Rhode Island Reds! Who said they had the broodiness bred out of them

My barred rock started brooding today! I went out to close the girls up and panicked for a moment because i didn't see her on the perch. But I looked in the nesting box and there she was, looking all maternal.
