Hello!

I am putting the finishing touches on my coop right now and a thought just occurred to me. My neighbor two houses down has a little (bantam, I assume) rooster. I am not planning on having a rooster. Will the crowing of the rooster affect my hens? What if they are wandering in the yard occassionally, will the rooster attract them?

Thanks for your help!

I'm assumming you have a fence? If so there's little chance they'll mingle.

I don't think the hen will search out a rooster. The rooster is usually the agressor.

(A fence will make sure that none of the chickens go visiting on their own.)

I have neighbors that have roosters. They have not affected my hens. I agree with popcornpuppy, the Roos usually are the ones who are the aggressors.
