Will NOT be buying TSC feeds again

That's a dream for me too, I have horses also and yeah, it would be great to have a store like horse.com, a feed mill with everything I want and a vet, farrier, and equine dentist all wrapped up in one. Heck I'd even take it in strip mall form! lol

You're dead on target when it comes to TSC and varying differences store to store. I go to every TSC within a 50 mile radius of my hometown and each one is a little different re feed! Some carry Blue Seal and Dumor, while others only Dumor. I go to Country Max or Lee's feed and seed, depending on my mood or if I just want a drive! Aren't mills the best, I love the fact that they're still around. I am calling around today to find out what I can do regarding chicken feed.

Cybercat-check out the co-ops, if they can't help you-ask for help they'll be more than willing! Good luck!

Wow why does this always happen to me. I just came home from my local TSC with another 20 lbs of Dumors chick starter grower 20%. I paid $7.49. After reading this I may have tried the Blue Seal feed. But my chicks are doing great on the Dumors. My chicks were vacinated for Merak and coccis so I feed them unmedicated feed. Does the Blue Seal have unmedicated?

Callemin stick with the Dumor since they are use to it. It is real hard to find non medicated chick starter these day. If you want to upgrade do it when they move to grower or layer since those are usually not medicated feeds.

My first feed was medicated and then I went to Dunmor which is not. I will have to go back to my original before they go in the coop for safty sake as they will be free ranging after being in the coop for two week. We have had so much rain here it isw a sin. Our forest is always a bit damp but now i will not walk back there for fear of getting stuck.

I buy from a local feed mill too and get my food-grade DE from the same foodmaster. The starter, grower and layer mixes are superb! He is so fussy about what he blends and the feed is usually $1-3 less per bag than Purina.

Yup, I did the same thing yesterday and found this thread today.

My chickies are about 2 months old and some still have what I consider rather runny poos, although this is my first time with them, so they may be okay. I wonder now if I shouldn't switch after they eat up the dumor stuff I have now. (With the way they're eating, it shouldn't take long...thought they were chickens, not PIGS!)

Hmmm...I don't even know where to look for other feeds around me. Come to think of it, though, the Delmarva Peninsula is a huge chicken area...and there is a Tyson feed mill the next town over from me...hmmm...

Hmmmmm Yall got me thinkin i was using the Purina but switched to TSC it's a buck or 2 cheaper.
Funny I have noticed the increase in poop not smell but the poop seems larger and there seems to be more of it.
Feather wise as a breeder yes this year i have noticed a less of a sheen to my chicks and their feathers seem more ruffled and less full.
I was thinking it could be genetics as thats where alot of traits come from.
But now that this thread has opened my thinking up i think i'm going back to the purina.

Southern states chick feed here is dust plain dust i would empty the feeders of the dust they wouldn't eat every day when i was useing it.

My favorite feed i used for the first years i had chickens was Nutrena best feed i have ever used.
Unfortunately all the small feed stores in my area dropped it in favor of cheaper feeds (southern states)

Wish i could buy it
