first time posting here, LONG time visitor:) we moved to Parker Colorado a month ago and I've made my way up to 39 birds so far. 6 turkeys, 2 ducks and the rest chickens. my question is, being its still somewhat cold here, is it too early to put the turkey eggs I've collected back into one of their boxes in hopes of one of the 5 hens going broody? we have 11 eggs from this week and id hate to lose them due to a mistake on my part. our birds are Narraganset, bourbon and black Spanish hens. we came from Arizona where things were a bit different! thanks to anyone who can offer some advice:) buffy

Do you have an incubator? If so, why not join us for the Cinco de Mayo turkey hatchathon? https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...de-mayo-turkey-hatchathon-all-poultry-welcome

We set eggs April 7th so they hatch on May 5th. That way your eggs don't go to waste and you don't have to worry about the turkeys not going broody in time to incubate the eggs. I don't know if putting the eggs in the nest will make them go broody but it might risk them being frozen, cracked or broken.

This is my first year with turkeys so I am far from an expert but my plan is to set as many eggs as I have on Sunday, and after that, continue to save them. In the event my hen goes broody, I will have eggs to give back to her that way.
