Will she ever lay again--pics???

Hello everyone!

It's been awhile since I've been on but I do have a question for all of you experts-

On 1-5-2010 ( you can look up my post about this ) - I lost my flock of 9 to a stupid dog. I only had one survive and I can't imagine what she went through but she was unharmed, physically. Her name is Misty and she is a black sex-link and ever since this night she has not laid an egg and I was wondering if she will ever lay again. She is now 1 year old.

I recently bought another flock- 3 rhode island reds ( although I'm thinking they accidently put in an easter egger by mistake for one of them-YAY ), 1 Ideal 236 ( I'm pretty sure it's a roo) 2 black sex-links.

Let me know what you think about Misty please and the "Rhode Island red"-

I didnt know black sex links were sooo gorgeous! Dont know if she will lay though. Ill keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you! She is pretty and very sweet- she will follow me into the house and since she went without a flock for so long we would let her come in to visit for awhile with the family- I just have to make sure to close the door behind me or she would sneak into the house all of the time!

She'll probably eventually lay again. She has suffered a severe shock by 1) the attack and trying to survive it, and 2) losing her entire family (flock) in one night.

My guess is, she'll begin laying once she gets comfortable with her "new" family of birds and they begin laying.

Give her time. Birds are easily shocked. Some even die, just from shock. Her internal egg-laying system has probably shut down for a good while, until her body re-discovers it's safe again to lay eggs. It may take a full cycle, though.

When you say "a full cycle" do you mean a year? I'm having the same problem with my surviving hen. She's sweet and friendly and has even adjusted to the "companion hen" we brought in for her. But No Eggs in three weeks--or only the collapsing kind.
