Will Silkies get along?

My daughters and nieces seem to want me to get Silkies.

Awww heck, I want to get Silkies!

How will they integrate into my existing flock? It consists of 3 Pekins (1 drake, 2 ducks), 6 black sex links (3 hens, 3 roosters - at least 2 of which will become dinner here shortly), and 17 "Browns" from Sunnyside Hatchery in WI (I believe these are actually a variant of Rhode Island Reds).

My oldest chickens are 12 weeks old. How would Silkies fit in to the mix?

I keep mine in their own pen, for the rest of the birds safety

just joking (a little bit anyways) I keep all my chickens by breeds. But as youngsters they all run together and for the most part get along fine. If you can get some of the same age or adults (so your sure to get hens, if that's what you want) I have had silkies that had the small dog attitude (big time) but for the most part when mine have been with other breeds they did fine.

I just got a call from a local who bought a large assortment of ornamentals. He said he doesn't know how many silkies are in there, but is willing to sell them for $6 a piece. They're about 6 weeks old. I think I may take him up on it for a half dozen or so.
