Will silkies use a ramp

I use ramps too but line them with a roofing shingle for traction. I make sure it is not too steep.

I sure hope mine will use theirs, when I get them. It's covered in shingle stuff for traction and isn't steep, but it's pretty narrow. Are ramps dangerous for tiny new baby chicks? In case I ever hatch any out someday...

I have a tractor that the ramp exits out the bottom, it is about a foot wide and five long. At the top there is a ten inch deep wall that holds the litter in place. So of course I call it the ramp of terror. My bantams and silkies moved in when they were a couple of months old and i had to start with putting them in the coop from the top and then with the ramp down that is the only way out.

I think it only took a couple of days before they would run up and down on their own. I have a one inch by 3/8 tall piece of wood run all the way across the ramp every four inchs all the way down an then coated the whole thing in no slip gripping rubber paint with large grit in it. No sweat
