Will the girls choose?

I have a total of 8 chickens--2 are boys. So not a great ratio. I'm having a hard time deciding which rooster to keep. One is already going after the girls, but he seems to have that perfected that within the last couple days and they are not squealing anymore. So I guess I would say he is being more gentle. The other rooster hasn't got to that point but he has on more then one occasion came to their rescue. I admire that about him. He is doing his job. I also noticed that he makes a different noise when he finds food and the girls come running. I think they are favoring him. They are around the other one but it seems different. Now the other one makes sure they are all in at night, even the ducks. It's very clear what he is doing.

So will girls choose who they prefer?

My 3 SLW hens sure aren’t gentle lmao.
They are always chasing each other and other birds away from treats.
They peck each other too.
My dominant hen, a red sex link, doesn’t do any of that.
I think the other roo is a leghorn?

That RIR looks just like mine! Choose the rooster that stays with the hens or tries to protect them and if the hens can go near him then choose that roo. P.S That one roo is sooo pretty! I wish I had him.

My Wyandottes were more skittish than my leghorns. All were very “active” birds, not exactly what I’d call gentle. I think it just depends on the bird.

If they are old enough to be sure they won’t have a drastic personality flip, then choose whichever one takes care of the hens and respects you the most. If they’re not fighting, then there’s no harm in waiting and watching a little longer.
