Will they all get along?

Just curious about mixing breeds. I'm new to this and we are doing lots of research before diving in. We are only allowed 3 chickens on our property. Is it better to get all 3 the same breed or is it ok to mix if we get them as baby chicks? Thanks!!

Yes the will get along. You will want to give consideration to the size of the chickens. Mixing Serama's or OEGB with Jersey Giants, I wouldn't recommend. But by and large same sized birds don't care what the feather colors are.

I have 3 different breeds of chicks together. They get along fine

I started with a flock of two each of three different breeds and they all got along just fine. But it was cute to see that the "birds of a feather did flock together!" The pairs did like to hang out with each other.

I have a mixed flock - they all get along with the exception of the "pecking order" but that's normal. No one gets beat up - just in charge & noticed lol. I have white leg horns, black copper maran, sexlink, buff orph, barred rock & australorp for now. Best of luck with your flock

I like having different breeds that lay different colored eggs. Not only is it colorful, you can tell who is laying and who is not.

My BR is still kind of young - so my leghorns & sexlinks run the show for now. That might all change in the next few months though
