I have 24 jumbo cornish x rocks that are in a good size brooder box in my cellar. They are now two weeks old and getting big and wanting to spread their wings. I have a brand new coop that is insulated and has electricity. My question is will they be ok in the coop with the 250m watt heat light?? Or am I being over protective??? It is still dropping into the 30's a night.

They will be fine:>) Mine have been in the coop since day olds with a heat bulb and it goes down to 0 here at night.

Thanks Morelcabin! Do you have them confined to a smaller area or do they just know to go to the lamp if they are cold?? My coop is 8x8.

I would confine them to a smaller area at first just so thay can find everything, but after a couple of days pull out the partition. Mine are in a 5x6 pen right now. For the first week I put a 2 ft high board across to keep them in half that area with the light and food
