Will they hatch?

Another twist to the duckling saga. I set up a barricade in the door of the run high enough to keep our new ducklings in but low enough so the adults can come and go. Placed some fresh straw in the run and Waddles built a nest for the ducklings. I thought Waddles had abandoned the remaining 7 unhatched eggs in the nest she built in the flower bed. She no longer laid on them keeping busy with the 10 ducklings. Out of curiosity I picked up the 7 eggs from the old nest and placed them in the straw in the run. Darned if Waddles didn't roll them under her with the 10 and continued laying on them all.

I would be concerned that the 'old eggs' will explode and spoil the new clutch. I can see no way that they might be viable.

There was originally only one clutch of 17 eggs. Ten hatched, seven did not. Since my post I have not seen her on the remaining seven. She is being a great Mom to the ten ducklings that did hatch. I'll probably just toss the 7 unhatched eggs.

Thanks,
