Will pheasants of different breeds (Red Golden, Lady Amherst, Ringneck) mate? And if so, will it produce offspring? What would the offspring be like?

You'll Find It A Rather Polarized Subject Here

We Have A Few That Like The Whole Mad Geneticist Routine Here, But Many Pheasant Breeders Are Hard Line Purists

I get that. Im not TRYING to breed anything. I have 2 male red goldens and was thinking of trying to hatch some ringneck eggs. Was going to give them to my silkie broody hen and see what happens, but was just wondering about fighting/ mating (if there are females hatched) etc.

Goldens And Ringnecks Do NOT Make Good Roommates Under Any Circumstances... Best To Seperate By Breed

You'll Find As Many Different Demeanors And Personalities As Breeds Of Pheasant... Usually Quite A Few Will Not Play Well With Others. Goldens Are Docile, Ringnecks Are Boisterous And Rowdy...

okay. where to start...

Pheasants of the same class will readily interbreed. ie: red golden and amherst (ruffed). The RG will possibly breed with the ringnecks, but not as likely. I really do not suggest this, and if it would happen, do not sell or distribute the offspring. I also do not suggest housing ringnecks with any other birds. Ringnecks can be super aggressive and would quite possibly kill your goldens. They will do fine hatching under the silkies, but you must collect the chicks the same day, or they will be gone. They are super quick and can fly within 2 weeks

Excellent information. Thank you very much. Considering those things, I will not be hatching any ringnecks. The red goldens are just for eye candy anyway. I got 2 males that were hatched and raised together and no females, as I did not want to breed them anyway.
