Will this adoptive home be suitable or will the chicken be lonely?

I have several cockerels I have been trying to find homes for and have a very nice lady who would like one as a pet. They are all friendly little bantams and quite suitable as pets. The woman would be keeping him at the stable where she boards her horse and the people who own the stable are all for the idea and have even said he can come in the house too. So far so good. My concern is that he would be the only chicken. There are some ducks apparently and I'm not sure if they would be enough company or if he will get lonely? Also can he eat a lot of the same food as the ducks eat? I don't know anything about ducks really. It sounds like a pretty good situation otherwise and I really need to find homes for my boys that don't involve being baked or fried! So wondering what you think? Should I try to talk to her about getting a hen or what about taking two boys? I just have no idea so can't wait to hear what you folks on BYC think!

Um honestly I would. Cockerels are hard to find homes for and it sounds like she will give him a good home, who knows she may decide to get him a few hens later on.

Definitely, he has a better chance at a happy life with that lady then at the end of an axe. He might make buddies with the ducks and if he's friendly as it is, I don't think he will have a problem. They need to make sure he doesn't get run over by a horse though.

I seriously thought about proposing she take two of them. They're all brothers and get along fairly well, but I wasn't sure what just two roos would be like together with no hens. Would they stay buddies?

Sure they will. No reason to fight! They usually only get nasty over the girls. Plus sounds like they'll be free ranging? Plenty of room to get out of each other's faces. I'd definately have her take two. Or three.

What about food? Can he eat whatever the ducks are eating? Ummmm...what is it ducks eat? LOL I mean do they have crumbles for ducks that are different than chickens?

OMG She actually took THREE!

They get to live at the horse stable for the remainder of their natural lives. And it's a big stable with an indoor riding arena and everything. WOW I can't get over my good fortune and theirs!
