Will this be warm enough for 3-5 week old chicks?

I have ten chicks between 3& 5 weeks. I want to move them into a well insulated coop with 2 sweeter heaters and a heat lamp. Using sand for the litter so not much danger of fire. The nighttime temps are 30-40. Will they be warm enough?

Once they are all fully feathered they will be fine. Once temperatures outside are around 70 degrees the chicks won’t need it. It all depends on your location and what breed your chickens are. The ideal age is 6-8 weeks for no longer needing a heat source. It’s best to wean them off the heat rather than just remove it all at once.

I think they'll be too hot. Is there enough ventilation in your coop?
Mine have been out since 2 weeks and the third week only had a low watt bulb at night. They didn't need any heat by 4 weeks.

I’m in the High Rockies of Colorado. Gets really cold at night here. Today with the two heaters and a lamp that have been on for 2 hours its only 58 in there right now.

I kept mine in an insulated but not heated garage with a brooder plate until they were 6 weeks old…they had stopped using the plate after maybe 3-4 weeks though, unless temps dropped to 40s at night!

The older ones should be fine without heat, the younger ones will probably still need it, so really you just need to provide heat until you can get the younger ones weaned off.

58 sound pretty reasonable, I think they should all be fine if that's the temperature in there.
