Will this coop do?

I agree, it is the run space that is most significant. Actually, in your climate with a big enough run, that coop would be fine. They can get by with 2 sq ft per bird in hot climates, where they basically use the coop only for sleep and laying, and maybe eating. Look over some of these warm climate "coops" (really pens) and see what you think. I believe if it were me I'd use the coop and put money into a run instead.

Weeelll... if you need more room maybe you could use both coops with the secure run between? Bet you'd have happy hens then... don't even have to get along with everyone all that well!

It seems like it would be way to hot in the summer, to me, for the area you live in. The only way to add ventilation will be on the ends, because the way it's designed, the other walls of the coop portion are the roof. I guess they could just sleep in the run at night, when it's too hot. It's too bad you can't find something with all flat walls, that you could open up more and just cover the openings with 1/2" hardware cloth.

I agree with the other posters- you can easily add a larger run to it! And yes, are you SUUUUURRREE you don't want to keep that other coop for more chickens???

*****really now, you know you need more chickens*******

I am in OC and the original plan of 3 girls to fit in the existing coop kinda went out the door. We are at 5 chicks and I refuse to get more.. We will be needing something bigger than my existing coop and yours might work well.. If you want to get rid of that one, I am open to chatting.
