I know nothing about these things. I do know that raccoons are here nightly and I'm not sleeping well.

Enclosure is pvc with hardware cloth top to bottom, heavy duty netting and hardware cloth 2 feet around the bottom. Coop indide enclosure has hardware cloth around botyom and double hardware cloth in most areas. I used zip ties and self drilling screws/washers to install hardware cloth. I've been finding zip ties broken off and I thought they were from when I was working out there, Now I'm thinking not. I found an area that a couple zip ties were broke by the duck pool(luckily there was bolts there) but not very secure. I spent an hour putting more bolts in tonite. Tomorrow I will do more. Is it possible for raccoons to rip zip ties? These are not small ones either. Is it possible for them to work an area and leave, come back and work some more? Or maybe they were working and the dog spooked them? Now this can all be my imagination, but I know there are several out there and often.

I'm thinking about adding 2x4s on the inside, screwed to the pvc. I was originally thinking the outside but that would allowing climbing.

In the mean time I'm looking at electric fencing and found this one, specifically for raccoons(I'm thinking it would work for skunks and oppossums too). If this is not my imagination they are focusing on the bottom of the run.

It's says 100 ft role, if I don't need a 100ft, do you cut it? I need about 30 ft one side-20 ft on another and 25 ft on another. I know I need the charger, but what about those support poles--how many feet apart are those suppose to be? How many would I need? Is there anything else I need to set it up? I do have trees, will that be an issue with solar?

Thank you for any help or advice.

I just got a solar charger box (to make the wire hot) from tsc, wire, and use the plastic step in posts to hold the wire up around the perimeter of my run. You also need a ground rod. It was easy enough to set up. Plus, you make it the size you need.

The net you listed (as well as many other brands) is not charged/electric at the bottom few strands. If that is where the coons are messing, they may just end up chewing through those few strands and you'll be right back to the position you're in now.

It is also not advised to cut the wire. The posts should be 6-8 feet to remain taught, and a straight line from post to post (not curving).

It sounds like you found an electric fence option that you like...did you get all your questions answered?

Not sure exactly what fence you have, but I have an electric fence with a battery a ground rod , and a box that connects them. It keeps all predator out for me, although I do put them in their co-op at night.

I use the 165 foot version of this fence around the entire coop and run. Mine came with a gate that is also covered in the electric netting: https://www.premier1supplies.com/p/poultrynet-12-48-3-w-drivable-posts-electric-netting?cat_id=53

12 horizontal electric strands. Bottom 5 wires are 2 inches apart.

Definitely want it connected to a 110v plug in energizer. Don't trust the solar or battery ones. I bought a Gallagher M160. Puts out a joule of energy and about 8,000 volts.

I'd recommend no overhanging branches around the coop/run or else you could have raccoon paratroopers dropping in.
