Will this electric fence work?

Not in the enclosure but guarding around it. Plenty of space--wide open. I would never put them in a spot that would traumatize them.

I keep envisioning my dogs getting electrocuted. How awful. I figure the fence plus the dogs should help me sleep a little better....

Mine are in their coop and duck houses. I still don't trust it. I'm going to eventually(hopefully next spring/summer) build a coop that attaches from the outside of the run, which will put the coop itself in the yard with full access to the dogs(but no access to chickens for the dogs), just the coop.

I went with this one, but not from tractor supply. If it works, I would not be opposed to putting it around the coops and duck house at night either.

Since I will be wiring it, every strand on this one will have electric, correct?

That is basically what we are using only I didn't buy a kit. Every strand of wire will be hot as long as it isn't touching anything metal (or overgrown with weeds and snow cleared).
My husband wasn't sure it was working. He touched it and got zapped good. My dogs have touched it - it pulses, so they might not feel it right away, but once they do they will also stay away.

I can upload a video of my dog doing it. They don't get electrocuted. Shocked. Just shocked.

Regardless of what your power source is, you must keep vegetation away from the wires. They will ground the fence out.

Yes, coons will chew through zip ties. You might want to try some metal J clips where you are not using wood/fender washers and screws.

Yes... I agree. Raccoons are little butts that will stop at nothing to get at your flock!

Great video. That's how it's supposed to work exactly. She was in an environment that's comfortable to her, imagine what evil a wary predator thinks it's stumbled into!

Yes, all the wires on the post will be "hot" ...

I'd also invest in an additional ground rod, get a 48" one and wire it to the other ground rod.

60" ground rod is recommended depending how wet or dry your soil stays
