I've never kept coturnix with buttons (or at all) but I read about someone doing it on this forum, and from what I understood it's not a good idea. The coturnix are at least 4 times heavier, the buttons almost definitely won't even consider her a female of their species much less be able to mate with her. The person I read about kept them together for months with no issue - then the coturnix suddenly started pecking the buttons. So I wouldn't try it.
