Will this work for a dust bath area?

I have a 14"x14"x3" plastic container. I want to drill holes in the bottom for drainage. Will this work as something to put sand in for them to dust bathe outside? The bottom of the coop is sand, but my runs are grass (until they trample it...lol!). I only have 5 chicks. Getting everything finalized for them to move outside in the next few weeks.

Absolutely! When they get bigger you might want to consider using a plastic baby pool.

Thanks! I figure I'll be on the lookout for something larger, but it's nice to know it should work. They are using a dog bowl at the moment....lol!!

It'll work for now but they'll probably overgrow it pretty fast. Chickens often like to dust bathe with a buddy or two, so ideally you'll want to upgrade to something maybe a yard wide or more.

I used to use a cheap raised garden bed kit for a dust bath, now I use a kid's sandbox with lid.
