I absolutely have to seperate one of my flocks. The olders have started beating the youngers all of a sudden and they must get seperated before they kill someone. I have no money or time right now to build another coop and run for the snotty hens. My DH would rather eat them-we really don't have to financial or space means to build anymore coops, especially for half bald, mean hens. Driving around today running my errands i noticed that the local Mennonites use calf hutches for their ducks, chickens, and turkeys. Do you think i could reasonably do that? I'd have 7-8 hens in there, we'd put a door on it with some spare plywood we've got to keep predators out at night, and i'd put up some fencing around it (probably field fencing). I don't know what calf hutches cost but if we cut out groceries next week i think i can buy one and a roll of fence. What do you think?
