It could be... The reviews say it is not accurate, most are not. But if you test it to see how far off it is an compensate for it it would work.

That thermometer lists for about $20? You can get the spot check from Cutler supply for $22 and it has an accuracy rating to .18 degrees farhenheit.

Eta: But, it doesn't show humidity.
