I️ don’t want to intervene if I️ don’t have to. This one is definitely the most friendly and loves being handled. She sits all the time and waddles when she walks. Anytime she’s in the sun, she flops down and fans out her wing like an umbrella. Perhaps she just needs a bit more vitamin D than the others. When they are all let out of the pen to run around on the grass, she doesn’t play with them. She just lays there in the sun.

she sounds lovely! i have one who whenever i enter the run comes rushing over too me and waits for me to sit on my stool and then jumps and falls asleep on my lap!

Hey y’all! I️ have an update:

So, I️ noticed that chick #4 had been limping since the I️ got her. I️ didn’t think much of it. I️ had checked her feet and the looked fine.

This morning I️ notice that the way she was walkingon her feet was a little odd.

The rear toe of her left foot seems to be deformed. The toe is bent forward like the toes on the front of her foot. Here’s a pic:

I️ am concerned that the toe/foot are painful because she sits most the time and limps pretty bad when she walks. When she does walk, she will only take a few stiff steps at a time.
Is there anything I️ can do to help her or make the foot less painful?

That might be why she's been sitting around, and not growing as fast.

Sorry, I don't know what to do about it.

(Well, I know what I would do about it, but it may not work for you. I have always raised chickens for meat as well as eggs, so my default solution is "eat that chicken next." I know that does not work for everyone.)

Thank you! The chick isn’t even the size of my hand, so eating it wouldn’t be much of an option.
