Will we get Coop #5 right? Here we go!

Looking good Valerie! It lloks like you have the area around the coops netted? What is the low white thing there? Looks like a metal roof?
We do have bird netting up. They have a very large area to roam, so that is how we keep the eagles out.

The low shelter is just an outdoor shelter to get out of the rain and take a dust bath. The roof is corrugated plexi-glass and the sides are just heavy painters drop cloth. That will be replaced with the secure run that will be built onto the new coop. The whole area has been a hodge podge of buildings and shelters, and still is actually. Not sure what all will stay and go.

It probably looks like my first college days, apartment! :lau :hugs

@igorsMistress thought I would show you what it’s like under the outdoor shelter. I keep outdoor food there. The fence keeps Mad in his bachelor pad. If you look closely you can see Surly in the back having a dust bath. They wouldn’t make it through the winter without this.

The new coop will have a secure run with a roof and cinder block around the bottom so that will be their dry space and this shelter will go away.

My goodness Valerie, that is one beautiful rooster! Thanks for the pics. I've been thinking about a chunnel, aka chicken tunnel. Similar to your protected area but for shade whete they have to cross the patio. How tall/wide is that?

It's 4' tall, 5' wide and about 16' long. It works fine; we've used it for 4 years, although we have to replace the drop cloth when it wears out. I'll be happy to replace it with something more permanent.

Mad Hatter is very beautiful, I agree. And thanks for saying so. But, he is a pistol. We are working with him. :D That's why he is separated at the moment. I try to get out there and spend time with him every day. He's only 7 months old, so we are hoping he will grow out of his big bad attitude.

I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for you guys! He is definitely a pretty boy. Sometimes I think the pretty ones make you work to keep them. Almost like they know you'll put up with their crap because of it :gig
