Yay! Everyone always shows the outside but I like seeing the inside too.I plan to. We haven't even started on that yet. Right now it's just building materials and tools.Glad you like it. I'm pretty excited.
I kinda like seeing that partRight now it's just building materials and tools.
Well, if you look at Aart's pictures of the inside of the coop, mine will resemble it.Yay! Everyone always shows the outside but I like seeing the inside too.
Are you still keeping 2 separate flocks?
Thanks!! I'm pretty happy with it so far. I'll be referring to your article when we get started on the inside.I kinda like seeing that part
It's looking good Val!
Thank you! That is so helpful! My coop is 8x10 but I thought I had to have doors on both of the short ends so that limits the space for roosts on those walls. I will need ramps too.Fine to share the pic...public domain
Off the top of my head, the longer roost is 7', the shorter one is 4'.
They could accommodate more birds than really fit the space, especially in winter,
they sleep on the edge and also right on the board.
But 'extra' roost space is good during integration as well as the RoostTimeRumble.
The ramp to roosts is about 3'-3", ramp to nests is 22".
I just kinda winged it with the adding legs and 'top' to the crate, then fitting the ramps.
Here's another view, still cant see the legs under crate very well.

ETA: Fixed ramp dimensions above after measuring.
Note the I added ramp because my coop is only 6' wide and there were some crashes flying down when I got my first flock in there. Also had a couple big bumbling Brahmas that appreciated them....my big cockbird still mostly uses the ramp, and other birds do too.
