Of the breeds that you mention, leghorns (my favorites) tend to be most skittish and flighty. All of the others are more docile. good luck in your choices. Also, a flock of mixed colors is a pretty sight.

I am a huge fan of the Orptington breeds....Buff Orpintons and Black Australrops. Both of these are very docile, kid friendly, affectionate and very hardy. They are all I keep.

I agree Orptington breeds are so friendly and so pretty, but tend to go broody so if you are not planning on hatching any chicks then you may want to stay away from them. GOOD LUCK it is such a hard decision.

I guess I had the orpington that went against the grain. We had a BO and every time he saw my nephew (about 5 until he was 8) he would flog him, chase him around the yard and attack him. My dad refused to cull him since he was his favorite. Now I have a Lav. O and my nephew is so timid when he goes out to see the chickens.
So just remember you can get an aggressive chicken of any breed.
