Will young rooster outgrow aggressive behavior?

I currently have 8 roosters (I had 9 until a few weeks ago). I have had a few get pretty rowdy when they hit "puberty". I have found that scooping them up and carrying them around when they come at you works well. Hold him until he stop struggling. You must respond quickly everytime you get pecked or charged. If you can't grab him in time, try to get ahold of a single tail feather and tug. It won't hurt him. The stalking technique has worked well for me too. Make sure you walk directly toward him until he steps aside. You can make him understand that you are the alpha without resorting to kicking or beating or half drowning the bird. Turning one upside down can cause a chicken's lungs to collapse (search the threads) so that really isn't the best way to go either.

I had one that was a big challenge! I waited too long to deal with his bad behavior because I was afraid to get bitten. I finally realized that they don't cause much more than a bruise (before the spurs come in), not a big deal. This one is still not a teddy bear but he knows how to behave around me. He will untie my shoe if he is feeling especially aggressive that day.

I can live with that. The rest have no fear of people and have no aggression issues at all anymore.

I have never had one try to spur me. That would probably be my "line in the sand".

I have found that they do calm down a lot at about 1 year old. Good luck. I am sure you will get a lot of varying opinions. Choose wisely.

Like teens they will only "out grow it" if you show him that he is not the boss. If you let him take a position higher than you in the pecking order now he will never outgrow it.

ok there are 2 things u can do
1 when eva he does something bad grab him and pull out 2 or 3 wing feathers
2 and u can hypnotise him my holding him up side down for a while but not tooo long and exposing him to the things that really tick him off and doo this regularly and he shud get ova it

Stop treating him like a pet/equal and start treating him like a rooster. When he does the wing dance, walk towards and pursue him. If he comes at you aggressively, pin him to the ground and force him into submission. Convince him that you are dominant or the behavior will escalate. 'Petting' works on mammals not on roosters. A sensible poultry husbandry 'rule of thumb' is if necessary treat your hens like pets, but treat your roosters like chickens. It works.

Continue to 'fight' him with your hands and you are playing his game. By doing that you are still treating him like an equal and he will not get the message, and every judge that goes to handle him will disqualify.
