We'll be there. My Daughter and Niece will be Showing in Junior Class. Not exactly sure what she will bring to sell. If hubby comes with us he will handle the sale birds. The kids and I are usually running all over with Showmenship and helping out where needed. I'm sure she will have some Indian Runners, went through some of them today and she has a few that she doesn't want to keep to breed or show.

did your daughter have her faverelles there? I saw them but couldn't find any for sale. so instead we got americanas. not my first choice but the kids wanted them.

So...I went to the Windsor show.

Nice turn out and quite a few familiar faces.

I was the lady pushing the kid in the wheelchair, staring at all the gorgeous bantam cochins.

And now, I'm back home in the woods:)

I've had a ton of phone calls since coming home, everyone wanting either guineas or laying hens, nobody wants chicks. that's the best part, the chick stage!

A few random thoughts:

I saw a white Chantecler in the exhibit hall. I didn't see anyone selling any Chanteclers, though. (There were many other breeds being shown that were not for sale, I mention the Chantecler because that is a breed I would have been interested in buying.)

It seemed that there were 3-4 times (maybe more) bantams than standard size chickens.

There was a standard Barred Plymouth Rock cockerel and a standard Rhode Island Red cockerel that were impressive in size, at least from a visual point of view. I wonder how much they weighed. If either owner is reading this and knows, I hope they will share.

I had the mistaken impression that fowl would be the focus of the auction. Maybe I missed the real auction, but all I saw being auctioned was flea market type items.

I was at a goat show at the Windsor fairgrounds a couple of years ago, presumably there was a concurrent chicken show then, too. But, I completely missed the poultry exhibit hall when I went to the goat show. Perhaps more signage or cross advertising would be beneficial.

She just had her showmenship boy there for faverolles.. Last winter all her Favs got wiped out by a weasel or something and she's trying to build her show/breeding stock back up. She just got two new Roos at the congress in January and all hers are in breeding pens right now. She would have some pairs probably in the fall, she's growing some chicks out to see what she gets to keep to show and will sell the rest, she's got plenty of breeders right now
