My 5.5 week old Easter Egger pullet has a wing injury that I can’t identify. She seems to be acting mostly normal, eating chick crumble and drinking ACV treated water, following her hatchmate (cockerel) around everywhere. I haven’t noticed if her droppings have changed at all recently.

I noticed the injury two days ago (Friday), when she got herself stuck in the fence. There was a hawk circling my yard, and when Mama hen gave the distress call, everyone else went into hiding in the coop or nearby foliage. Tilly decided to make a run for it instead. She got her head and wings through the small hole between the wires of the fence, but the rest of her was too big to fit. Once she realized she was stuck she began thrashing wildly. I had to pry the wire of the fence apart to get her out, and I’m concerned that her wing was damaged in the process. It bled a small amount that day, and by nightfall that night it had a slight pinkish tint to it, which I assumed was slight traces of blood. It wasn’t enough for my undiscerning eyes to notice anything terribly out of the ordinary. Last night at bedtime I checked her over again, and the underside of her wing looked bright green. Like the color of a punctured gallbladder. Tonight it still looks green and swollen, and I’m worried that either her wing is broken, or whatever was bleeding is now infected.

I was hoping to get her to a vet, but with the holiday weekend, I can’t call anyone until Tuesday.

This pic was taken tonight. Any advice on how to care for her is appreciated. Thank you!

Green is bruising. If she has any cuts, put a little triple antibiotic ointment on those.
Hopefully the swelling will go down in a few days.

If she is active, acting normal, eating/drinking, interacting with the others no problem, then I would just a keep an eye on her for several days. If she becomes lethargic, if you notice an odor or if the cuts become angry with pus, then she needs to be seen.

Thank you so much! I was so worried she was getting an infection somehow.
