Thanks! Fingers crossed they use the boxes. I have golf balls in each but wondering if I should switch to something more egg shaped.
Some birds know better. Mine don't deal with golf balls and kick them right out. 🤣 The ceramic eggs look extremely real, fools pretty much all hens! Check these out... 🤣

Another new layer today!

At age 27 weeks (and 1 day) my Ancona finally laid a white egg! It's the smallest egg I've received yet at 41g.

Here it is next to my EE's egg from yesterday. Turns out that it's not blue, it's more of a mint green! She didn't lay an egg today but I did still get 5 total. 4 of which were found in the same nest box.

Congrats on all the eggs! :woot Love the mint egg! ❤️

I MAY have been wrong about all 4 Barred Rocks laying... I've only seen 3 at once and now that I have a nice collection to compare colors, I'm not sure. I guess I'll know when I finally get a 4 BR egg day!

Interesting to see the patterns of laying. So far the Plymouth Barred Rock seem to lay a few days in a row, take a break, then start again. My white Easter Egger and my Ancona have so far laid every other day.

But my Blue Australorp? She's killing it! She lays every single day with the exception of 1 break day every 1 or 2 weeks. Since she started on Sept 11, she's laid 28 eggs!!! So she's only taken 3 break days in a month!

Ok... I believe I was wrong before. I NOW have all 4 Barred Rocks laying. I received a tiny beige egg today and since ALL my eggs were laid in the nest boxes, I was able to watch the trail cam footage and confirm.

Also, I received my fake eggs today to replace the golf balls as @TwoCrows suggested and when I went to put them in the nest boxes, I discovered the Blue Australorp laid in the nest box! Finally, she figured it out! The fake eggs still came in handy, though, because they've been fighting over 1 box and they started spreading out to the other boxes.

I received 7 eggs today! All 7 of my layers gave me an egg. Still waiting on 4 more pullets to lay their first.

Congrats on your Blue Australorp figuring out the boxes. :woot Eventually they do. Beautiful eggs you've got there! ❤️ Fake eggs will always be handy to have around, not only can it help to lure the birds to use other boxes but it also helps to prevent egg eating. Collect eggs often, the fake ones left in the boxes are impenetrable, chickens learn not to mess with any eggs. Thanks for the update, enjoy all those pretty eggs! 🥚💞
