One of the broody's babies laid her first egg today! My first BCM egg. Hoping it will get darker because it's almost indistinguishable from my blue marans'.

Me too! So funny how my first batch of chicks took FOREVER to give me that first egg but I feel like this girl just popped one out so fast!

Let's see... my first group was born April 3, 2024 so they'll be 2yr old this Spring. I have EEs, Barred Rocks, Welsummers, and an Ancona in this group.

My 2nd group was born Feb 11, 2025 so they'll be 1 yr old next month. I have mostly Olive Eggers in this group with a couple Blue Marans.

The broody (which was an OE from my 2nd group) hatched and raised 3 Black Copper Marans chicks. They were born Sep 8th so they're a little over 18 weeks old.

I'm maxed out now. No new chicks until I cull my older ones and I won't do that right now. They're all laying eggs and healthy so no need.

Here's my basket from today. Egg production is increasing finally from the winter break.
