You know... I was just reading through your post on @BlueTheBrahma 's thread listing your breeds and I just might take you up on some hatching eggs once I have a broody! And then I will have to expand, just like Wrath said. He was soooo right....again!!

Fixed that for ya...😋

I have self control! No more chicks this year.

Speaking of chicks, the littles have figured out the new roost bars!

@wrathsfarm what do you think of the Blue Copper Marans? Aren't they supposed to have some copper in them..?

They're beautiful, I need some in my life.
How old? My female BCMs usually don't show copper as quickly as the males.
I don't have any Blues so don't research them too much other than hatch down color to identify, but I do notice the hackles are usually much darker than the body color. I'm not sure why this is? And if that has an effect on the copper appearing or not appearing. But if these are hatchery stock, I wouldn't expect much copper to appear just like in a lot of Black Coppers being sold as they're not actively setting up their breed groups focusing on full hackle copper like breeders do. None of my original stock has full hackles, I didn't start getting them til I paired Kong up, who's over colored in the chest.
Maybe @BlueTheBrahma can shed more light on the Blues for us both.

They'll be 12 weeks on Tuesday. I had a Blue Copper Marans pullet that died shortly after she started laying due to a a reproductive issue. She never got any copper either. Maybe you're right, just hatchery quality.

Speaking of coloring, the lighter Blue actually has darker spots. I don't know enough about chicken genetics (yet) but I'm assuming this would make sure more of a splash or something?

You can kind of see the darker spots in these photos:
