I've been looking at saddles with wing protectors and was wondering if people that have them have issues with the wing flaps staying up? Or portions not laying flat.

I have no experience with these so can't help you, sorry. Have you tried searching this site, until someone who has used these comes along?

Hi Mavriik,

I use the saddles with wings on my chickens and never had a problem. I like it a lot.

I sewed wing covers, or shoulder ruffles as I like to call them, onto a plain saddle for a hen who had bald wing shoulders.

I did this by shirring the edge of two rectangles, pulling the threads so they formed ruffles, and then sewed them onto the upper sides of the saddle. You can make them long enough to cover the entire wing, or shorter to just cover the bald areas. The shirring helps keep the ruffles in place, hugging the wings.

If you don't sew, perhaps you can find someone who does sew who knows how to do this.
