HELP! my 3 week old duckling has a stumpy wing. I have only just noticed that her wing hasn't developed properly. she has the main bit coming from her body but where the 'elbow' is supposed to be there is no protruding wing! its just on her right hand side. I was sure she had normal looking wings before so i was searching for signs of it being bitten off! as her sibling is always tugging at her wings and vice versa. but there is no blood and and it looks fine, she has been pulling her baby feathers out, especially on her wings but im astounded i never noticed this before. She gets plenty of protein and i know its not angel wing as that causes the wing to twist and the feathers protrude upwards but there is just no wing bit there at all. will she be ok? she doesnt seem to be bothered by it and is otherwise a perfectly happy duck. any ideas of what it could be????

Some waterfowl (not Pekins) are routinely pinioned at hatch - 'flight portion' of wing removed. This renders them unable to fly but otherwise does not impact their quality of life. She will be fine.

I doubt that your duckling (if that is one of the ducklings in your avatar) was pinioned. This is generally done to flighted birds. My guess is that the duckling was just born with a genetic anomaly.
