Hi, I have khaki Campbell ducks and one of them appears to be having difficulty in the morning (mostly) spreading her wings. When she fails a couple of times she'll sit down for a bit and then usually go in the pond.
I'm wondering whether anyone else has had a similar situation and could give some advice as I don't know whether I should be concerned. Thanks for any given

Anyway you can post a video of her. You’ll need to put it on Vimeo or you tube then copy and paste here. I have no idea why having trouble opening her wings might mean she needs to lay an egg but do you know if she is laying? And when she laid last? How long has the issue with her wings been going on?

It's been awhile now, my friend who lives here too thinks it's due to weak wing muscles but I've recently been more concerned because I'm not sure whether my friends suggestion is the correct one. She shares the coup with her sister and egg laying has for several months been one a day so which one is laying an egg is unknown.

She is struggling to walk also very slow . I don't think it's egg binding if it's been going on a while that usually takes them out pretty quick but could be some kind of infection that has made her weak. Or she may have eaten a toxin You mentioned pond and I know this is far fetched since your other duck looked perfectly normal but we need to rule things out. Tell us about the pond has it flooded lately are there fish and have you noticed any dead fish or other type of animals around? Then you need to examine her pick her up and if necessary wrap her in a towel very gently feel her tummy does she feel bloated is her tummy soft and squishy, hard does it feel like there is fluid in it. Ever seen any discharge. Any signs of wounds? you'll need to check her all over under her feathers. How long have you had her and her sister? She's def weak in her wings and body too. Do you have a problem with ticks? Check for that also. Do you mind sharing where you are just state will be fine. Sorry for all the question but to get to the bottom of this it really helps. And maybe someone else will ask even more.

Living in the Scottish countryside. No fish in the pond and no flooding there is a secondary overflow pool which assists with that given that Scotland rains a lot. There is also a filter in pond to keep it clear and clean. The girl's coup gets cleaned out and then coated with DE powder. We've had them about 2 and a half years. Will need to do the suggested checks in the morning. Whilst friendly and good ducks they're also wary, I assumed that was a bird thing given the chickens are like that also. I appreciate the questions you're asking, so no problem with the questions.

P.s we also have 4 cats that go outside weather permitting. Rabbits in summer, the occasional pheasant comes by like all the other birds to feed on the food pellets and squirrels. There is a compost heap as well where any vegetable/peels go.

Can you get some poultry vitamins and start giving them? Also how is her appetite? Just by watching her is is struggling I’d keep her in a small area and give her some vitamins until you have examined her. Let her rest and not exert so much energy right now.
