The UK is safe as anything.

But there, you get hideous slimy slugs that eat your veggie patch, slime over your swing set and sit in the middle of your lawn looking squidgy until you get out the table salt and douse them with a lot of it

slugs are like mosquitoes, not a bother but not a pain.
