Immediately Bloodwing noticed the change in Scarlet's eyes. Brilliant! He thought fearfully. Quickly he extended one of his wings slightly, blocking an immediate move from Scarlet. If she got into a rage, it would be useless to restrain her. And then she would be dead. The idea sent a bowling ball into the pit of Bloodwing's chilled stomach.

"Wise move," Nightshade's eyes narrowed, the eyes that resembled a snake's: pale yellow, unmoving. "We don't want any violence. Someone might," she turned around with a laugh. "Get hurt."

she in stead of fighting, scarlet grabs a vial and throw it at the hen, at first nothing happen then the hen feathers slowly turn neon pink and purple

At once Nightshade's eyes flashed and her tail whirled as she aimed a deft kick at Scarlet, catching her beneath the chin. It was so fast that not even Bloodwing could react. Immediately he growled, hackles raised, and started forwards.

"Don't even think about it," huffed the pink hen, ruffling her feathers vainly while her eyes drilled into his. "Unless you want your girlfriend to have more than a scratch," she gave a cry into the darkness, exotic, and unfamiliar to Bloodwing's ears. Suddenly they were surrounded, roosters and hens on every side, perhaps a dozen, maybe more. Yellow eyes watched from trees, and tails whirled around bushes as the warriors moved into position. They were a gnarly bunch. A scar over one eye, a missing leg, ropey black scars on the wings and bodies, they were clearly not in any peaceful arrangement with other clans.

"What do you want me to do, Nightshade?" Bloodwing hissed in the silence, in which dozens of eyes watched, glaring.

Nightshade, now being thoroughly doused with an antidote to the potion Scarlet had thrown at her, turned and smiled. "You're coming with me."

* StarShine pondered the question * " I am really not sure. Just doing my duty and patrolling I suppose. I just have this feeling something is not quite right ..."

scarlet does a high pitch scream, at first nothing happen, but the sound of marching could be heard coming around the birds, scarlet smirks "you dont know this well do you? i always have plans for such thing ask this" she hisses and some cages fall on the birds but not bloodwing and scarlet, while the other birds were pin down were then cant move by the birds scarlet called, she gets up and look at bloodwing "i will tell you later" she rub her chin and does a deadly growl

"We all have that feeling sometimes," Silvermist glanced overhead warily. "Ever since Clawstar was injured, and these strange chickens showed up, I've been having the same feeling . . ." seemingly coming to some conclusion, she turned to Starshine. "I could come with you on the patrol, if it will make you feel any better."

Nightshade, having escaped the cages with darting close to one of the oaks, was nodding approvingly. "So I thought," she whispered thoughtfully. "You're Scarletnight. I've heard that you've restored a lost possession to the proper clan. A pity," she sighed. "We could have used such an artifact. It may even have been enough collateral to get you two out alive." With a smirk, she backed into the shadows. The black feathers faded. Only her snake-like eyes remained. "Remember," she murmured on the faint breeze as she slid away. "I have your daughter. I would like to tell you how beautiful she is, even with the bruises. Who knew such a lovely daughter could come from such a a despicable murderer?"

At once a huge growl burst from Bloodwing's throat and he charged after the shadow savagely. His grey eyes were far past worry, they merely reflected the horrible, sickening anxiety and anger knotting around his stomach. "If you touch one feather . . ."

"I all ready have."

Then she was gone.

"Lead on." Silvermist smiled. Quickly she stifled a yawn, and plucked a few berries from one of the bushes to fill her growling stomach.

"Scarlet," Bloodwing turned, panting hard as he realized that even now, his daughter, shut up in Nightshade's lair, could be dying. No, she wouldn't kill her, she wanted him. That was all. Yet he was an idiot if he believed that Ambersong would be released when he turned himself in. "Thank you. But Nightshade is not a hen to be trifled with. She'll be out for you now, too. I don't need two hens to rescue. Can't you just stay out of it once in a while? Can't you just keep your beak where it belongs and not nose after every little thing I try to do?! You're going to get us both killed!"

Frustrated, he launched a spur-kick at the nearby ash tree, giving a cry of challenge as he did so. Finally, energy sapped dry, he collapsed at the base of the tree, mind numb, and ideas for all clever escapes gone.
