That's what I was thinking, just to be honest. For instance, we can tell if a baby chick is in distress if s/he is peeping in loud uncomfortable tones.

Here's what I think it should be like. You can object, but it's just my personal opinion.

Fowl should speak the same language, excluding Waterfowl. Different species of fowl will have an 'accent', for lack of a better term, meaning a Green Junglefowl, for example, will have a slightly more high-pitched voice. If you think about it, if most species of land fowl are capable of hybridizing and living in the same territory, shouldn't they speak in the same tongue? Think about Pheasants and Chickens. Those rare hybrid fowl probably wouldn't exist if neither fowl understood each other. It would be quite a strange relationship, otherwise.

All Waterfowl, like Ducks, Geese, Swans, and allies will speak the same language but with the same 'accent' rule as the land fowl.

Raptors all speak the same language, but depending on the species, their voices too will vary. An Owl would have a deep, resonating, but smooth-toned speech and a Hawk would have a shrill, harsh voice.

Mammals, Reptiles, Marsupials, and Fish, if they even have a language; would speak an entirely different language than any family of birds.

And so on, and so forth.
