Yes they are, they can transmit the message instantly to another Shadow in camp which can sound the alarm

i never did have that anyway. and it's not as if i can do anything to shadows.

Anyway, so long as the shadows can't attack, i have no quarrel with them.

they can read your mind, they can whisper thoughts and images into your head, appear and disappear at will and a few more. But they have no solid body shape
