Rainsong's head shot up from her nap and she sprang to her feet, listening closely to the calls. Noticing they were unfamiliar, she peered her head around tree after tree. "Hello?" she crooned in response, her voice sweet, ringing, and sing-song.

Had to take my bantam RIT Coco (one of the sweetest birds I have) to the vet today. She was groggy, then got better for a couple days and then back to a worse groggy/sleepy. Turns out she had a very serious sinus infection because of her crossbeak. He nose holes were all blocked up so the vet had to dig them out with a little tool much to Cocos dissatifaction. Finally after digging in them which leaded to ALOT of gunk in there there was some nasty cheezy puss in there which she got out and went to look in her mouth...well it was worse...no smell but worse. Up were the nose holes enter the roof of her mouth was all infected

She got the nasty gunk out and took a culture to see what type of bactiera/ infection it is. Wont know it for a week I believe. Helped her do a sinus flush and gave me some fluids to give her. She told me if she doesn't start eating I might have to tube feed her. Got home let her sleep for awhile and calm down then gave her the dose of Tylan 50 the vet told me which Coco didn't like one bid. Let to go to TSC to get some needles and syrenges came back and she had been standing up! Took her out awhile ago and gave her her 27.3 cc/ml of fluids under her skin which perked her up and she even ate a little bit! Phew...hopefully she keeps improving....So thats what happened today. My dear sweet Coco absolutely hates me now except for the occasional snuggle then she bounds off again LOL. She seemed much after getting her nose declogged and the fluids. Should have the culture results back in a week and she shall be on the right medications.. Even after a $212.12 vet bill I'll do anything for my babies.

AC, I'm so sorry, I have totally been there and it hurts to see your baby's health dwindling right before your eyes. And they are BABIES, they are not 'just chickens'. I really hope she recovers soon!

(Well right now she's improved I'd probably say 60% since this morning so I'm hoping she improves even more.. $212....nothing compared to my very first bill with Sandy who I ended up loosing
