"Look, I'm sorry," he leaned against Scarlet, smiling faintly. "I'd done so much to keep Ambersong safe. When . . . when Jadestone died and my clan was coming apart, I gave her to a good friend to raise as her own. I knew that there were still enemies looking for me, and I didn't want to put Amber in the middle of all of it. A lot of good that did," he snorted. "They found her anyway. And all because of me."

you know that it is VERY unfair to put some one who tried to help with a killer! it would bring a BAD rap with brightflight!
