WingClan, a Chicken clan ЯР--> 'Fly with the breeze'

"Iceberry . . . is she . . . fine?" her eyelids drooped, as a last small trickle of blood left her mouth. Her airways were clear now. "Tell her . . . I'm sorry," she smiled weakly. "Clumsy."

"Oh yes, she just has a few bruises on her back and the feathers on one wing clipped off" She said "And you needn't blame yourself, it could have happened to anyone"

For a moment Silvermist closed her eyes. Her friend was all right, and that was what mattered. "I'm so tired," she whispered, resting her head against the side of the nest with a groan. "Thank you for what you've done," her eyes closed slowly, and her voice was reduced to a whisper. "If I . . . If I don't wake up," for a brief moment her yellow eyes opened, though she didn't bother raising her head, just glanced at FireFlower out of the corner of her eye. "Tell Wildheart that I--well, that I---" but words failed her, and she fell into darkness, a troubled, uncertain sleep.

"T-thank you," the apprentice was obviously feeling better, a smile playing on her beak as she stared up at the hen gratefully. "I feel better."

Willowbreeze smiled kindly down at her. "No problem whatsoever. So, what's your name?" She asked, putting the used herbs awayy.

"Lilypaw," she murmured, glancing at her feet. "My name's Lilypaw."

Fireflower patted her gently, her eyes full of amusment "I know little one, I know"

"Well its a pleasure to meet you Lilypaw. I'm Willowbreeze, Deputy med hen." She said.

"Nice to meet you," Lilypaw said in a little sing-song voice, though she was still looking at her feet shyly.

"Lilypaw?" the black rooster emerged from the woods and into the Wingclan camp, glancing about with interest as he strode towards her.

"Shadewing!" delighted, the little pullet raced towards him, giving him the biggest hug her tiny mass could muster.

"Settle down," he laughed, patting her on the crown before disentangling himself. "Are you all right?"

"A nice hen named Willowbreeze helped me," she nodded over to the hen, smiling happily. "I feel much better now. With Asp--with Asp . . ." she couldn't quite muster the words, and her face fell.

Again Shadewing patted the little apprentice, looking at Willowbreeze over her shoulder and mouthing: Thank you.

"Now," he stared down at Lilypaw. "Why don't you go get some rest. You're safe here, and these chickens will take care of you well."

"Will you come and see me?" Lilypaw's wing was in his, and she was whispering in a frightened tremor. "Please?"

"I promise," with a chuckle Shadewing pushed her gently back to Willowbreeze.

Wildheart solemnly stared at the murky surface of the river, blankly watching his reflection ripple.

"Love is just an inescapable trap, Wild," That was what his father always told him. It was what he always believed. "Life is a test. A test for faith, determination, and perseverance. Love? Designed to be an obstacle; to get in our way and make us stumble. It steals valuable time from us, only to just blow up in our faces in the end." Those harsh words painfully resonated in his head. His father was a noble individual at heart; maybe he was right? No, he didn't want to believe that. Maybe, just maybe, his father was wrong. For once in his life, he felt genuine joy, contentment, and, dare he admit it; love.

"Good night, Willowbreeze," she said politely as she huddled in a corner of the dreaming oak, glancing up at the tall ceiling with curiosity. But it was tired curiosity. Within a few moments, she could see the oak no more. She was asleep.
