"Don't toy with me," growled Aspspur, his orange-yellow eyes locked in an icy glare. "The truth, Deathstorm. If I were to send you back to Wingclan, would you be welcomed by them, or marked a villain and taken in for questioning?"

"They did suspect me,sir," He started. "If I ever went back, they wouldn't trust me.." "Not at all."
Nightwhisper watched,shivering.

For a long minute Aspspur stared at Deathstorm, eyes narrowed, scanning him up and down as if assessing a piece of real estate. "You are telling the truth," he decided, giving a nod of approval. "Very well. You've done well, your work with Wingclan has been exemplary. As such, it would be a shame to take the task . . ." he slid his gaze to Nightwhisper with a smile. "out of the family," he contemplated the young rooster, tilting his head to one side. "What do you say about a new job, Nightwhisper?"

And thank you, too; I want you to know that you've been a great role-model. You have superb storywriting skills.

There was no denying it: Fallenblossom was utterly revolted.

"Your mother . . ." she closed her eyes and sucked in a breath, controlling her annoyance. "was utterly lacking imagination. Fluffchick?" she bawked in indignation. "What sort of name did she want you to have? Fluffdoom? Fluffdeath? Fluffytalon? Oh, look at me, I'm Fluffyrainbowpaw!" she muttered under her breath, but not with anger towards the new chick. "Honey," she looked down on the chick, not unkindly. "We need to find you a new name."

The broody clucked under her breath, gathering the chick close to her and fluffing herself up as a warrior sped by on an upper branch. An involuntary growl escaped her throat. She shook her head, looking slightly dazed. "Don't mention it, little chick," she smiled down at her. "But we'd better think of a name before you start your apprenticeship," she muttered. "The other chicks will tear you apart with a name like that. What would you like to be called?"

Deathstorm nodded and bowed his head, but didn't say anything. Nightwhisper straightened when Aspspur looked at him, trying his best to once again hide his fear. He nodded,a small smile forming on his beak. Although he didn't mean for it to happen,he found himself bowing slightly to Aspspur. "I'd be glad to,sir," He replied, looking sinister in the little light shining in from the tops of the large trees.

I've been watching you, likewise; you are great at setting a mood to your writing.

This was an unexpected development.

Aspspur smiled to himself as he observed the young rooster's reactions, raising a brow as he realized that this rather ill-raised rooster might actually turn out to be a greater asset than he'd expected. "The honor is mine," he said in a flattering tone, rising from his seat and pacing around the branches to look at Nightwhisper more directly. "Your mission is simple, I won't need to tell you twice: you are to go back to Wingclan, kidnap one of its members, and bring it to me," he smiled. "I have a feeling they will accept you back with open arms--you're young, naive looking, and appear unpracticed. They won't suspect you," sensing that Nightwhisper might have qualms about turning in a fellow member, he added: "We only want information about Wingclan from a coerced source," he explained patiently. "You see--I want to know everything about Wingclan. Even more than you yourself know. I want to know members, supplies, secret stashes, treaties, everything!" he whipped around to face the night. "What do you say, Nightwhisper?"

"Falconchick, eh?" Fallenblossom looked down at the chick, expression hard, yet thoughtful. "It will suit you," she decided, "If there's one thing I've noticed, it's your ability to fly--even these little terrors haven't learned all their lessons yet," she raised her voice, smiling slightly as the two chicks jumped to their feet, looking sheepish. "Falconchick it is," she smiled. "I'll make sure to mention it to Aspspur--when it's time for you to become an apprentice."
