Sounds like a big time! I will call and get directions. Can't promise I will be there, but it sounds fun none-the-less. My kids would really enjoy looking at the birds too.
I will be there as well. I am not showing at this show. The only bird I have that is show ready is my standard cochin Hen, "Noel". She has been shown last week and 2 weeks before that. She is getting tempermental and getting upset when I put her in a cage. I won't take the risk of her damaging her feathers, so I will just give her a break till the spring shows come around. The old gal is only caged in prep for a show and normally gets to go where ever she wants. Come Feb and March shows I hope to take her and Jerry, big black cochin roo. That way she doesn't go alone and stays calm.
I will be bringing 3 BANTAM cockerels to sell. 2 Cream Light Brown Dutch and a Bantam Salmon Faverolle. $5 a boy. That price will drop as the day goes along.
The rest of the time I plan to look, gossip, and have fun !!!
For those that need directions the show is held at the Dixie Classic Fairgrounds you can use their website. The maps and directions are under the "plan a visit" header and then "maps, directions" http://www.dcfair.com/
Traveling east, I take business I-40 just before winston-salem and then exit 5C to cherry street. Turn left onto cherry street and keep going to where 27th street crosses. The fairgrounds are just right of that intersection on the other side. This does take you through down town, but is fairly direct.
REMEBER: Cut off for registration is tomorrow night.
OH, The Winston-Salem show is normally the largest fall show in NC. Should be a mass of birds both in the show and forsale outside. This is about the last chance most folks have to off load extra stock before setting up for winter. Some birds will go for lower prices then they are worth. Normally alot of bargaining and deal making going on at this show.
There are around 1250 birds registered in the open show. That includes 120+ standards and 26 silkies. The Junior show has about 110 total. Will be a nice show to finish out the year.
Help support the hosting club. Be sure to look for the silent auction and visit the concession stand.
Our daughter won Best Bantam duck, Champion Waterfowl and third in junior showmanship. Our sons won second in junior showmanship and first in senior showmanship. We got RB in bantam wyandottes and BB in dutch bantam.
