winter and dust baths

heres a funny, i took a droar out of my husbands chest dresser for the chicken sand box. he wont even miss it since he doesnt put his clothes away...lol

Thanks to whomever suggested the wood ash! Got plenty of that use to spread it around my bee hives but both of them went south for the winter this year. Haven't checked on my others (off prop.) but this way I can make the chooks an outdoor dustbath. Yah! Think I will just use our old galvanized bucket and see if they don't go for that! Since my DH has a closet and not a dresser! LOL Sun is out got to go let those girls out!

What does wood ash do for the birds in a dust bath? Does it affect mites?
