winter bedding

I've been using hay/straw as our primary bedding for the ducks, but I wondered if I could even use shavings or something in place of it for winter, unless it doesn't make a difference really.

I like shaving much better than straw or hay it is much more adsorbent. easier to clean out the frozen poop.

I use shavings, I think it keeps the birds warmer but that is just my theory.
 
It was good to read this. I use shavings for bedding with a straw nest which they spread all around the house. And I have a huge problem cleaning out the house because the shavings get moist with their droppings then freeze solid. Ugh. I am going to be working on insulating the house a little better to help my egg production, but that's for another post....
