OK so I'm kinda new at this chicken thing and i don't know what to do this winter we built out chicken coop into our shed and its not insulated and i was wondering what i me and my dad can do to insulate it.

PS our chickens eat every thing so it needs to be safe. i know its kinda early but i want to ready

What state are you in? I don't know how much insulation you'll need. We are in Kansas, it gets down to -15 sometimes. None of our hen or duck houses or our barn is insulated, and things been living through the winter in that barn for 136 years so far. It may not be neccessary to insulate. But, you could always just tack up some cardboard. Its very insulating, and non toxic. You can just lay in on 2 x 4s, and tack it up with broad head nails, or put wood between nail and cardboard, so it won't rip later.

Good luck, and contrasts on the new birds.

I say tack up cardboard, or better yet put insulation in and cover that with particle board or plywood. I insulated mine well, after all it's. Cold here and can get down to 25 below zero. I want the best for my girls and long winters are hard on any animal. I even wired my coop for electricity in case I need to add a heat lamp.
