Winter is Coming! Checklists, tips, advice for a newbie

What kind of 'autowater thing'?
I use a heater in my waterer, just top it off every morning.
Before that I had two waterers and swapped them out several times a day.
You know one of them bottle like containers that screws onto a plate with a lip

Usually I dress in layers, usually topped off with a Carhartt for an outer layer.

Love it when I get likes from an old post

How do you feel about heaters

Heating you coup comes down to a personal choice. It has advantages and disadvantages. I live in Canada and am subject to Arctic conditions and do not supply supplemental heat. I supply an extra feeder of whole corn and my birds are acclimatized and I do not fear if I have a power outage.

What I would like to stress is the use on extension cords is "GROUND FAULT BREAKERS and SAFETY CHAINS" on incandescent bulbs or heat lamps it would go a long way to prevent coop fires that are all "TOO COMMON" on this site.

The Weather man is saying that it's possible to get some snow this week in Michigan, and way up on Lake Superior, they have 23 foot waves out there today that say that the Witch of November is here and early. Time to get them coops ready.
