Winter is Coming! Checklists, tips, advice for a newbie

I thought I had most things ready...forgot to :

move the in-law's boat so I can get to the plow

find all winter tires

Well, why did you even bother to take them off for that week of nice weather you guys get up there in Alaska??

I think 80 is over for us now, but it will be 70 tomorow...

70 sure is nice too. ... we never get that either.

Nah, we have a full 3 months without snow! And our plow is a monster adjustable v plow. Tears up the shocks on that poor truck. Gotta drop it off when I can. Our truck is a giant flat bed 6 wheeled 1 tonn beast. We beat the tar out of it every winter. We have a long nasty twisty driveway, and do the neighbors too which includes several parking lots and multiple houses.

Around here the Snow plow drivers are hanging up their chains as we have not gotten a lot of snow in the past few years. That does not count the 3 feet in one storm, I am talking snow throughout the season to make a living it.

.... you all up there don't have that issue


I thought about moving to Canada, but even above us here in New England is too cold for me

me plowing down our driveway(but in this photo the plow is lifted up...must have done that when I stopped to take the photo...don't remember why...clearly I still have the edges of the drive to scrape clean)

last year when I stuck the blasted plow truck so far into the ditch that the supercharged tow truck with boom could NOT pull me out, and I had to get the dude with the backhoe. See him driving up? The little corner of vehicle on the right is me.

Thanks! I agree with @aart I think it looks like frozen snot...but the kids were trying for the Colossus of Rhodes with a mustache.

We are staying in the 20s now, high of 30s. Kids say we shouldn't yet start up the heat....

18 over night and this morning but will hit 43 (maybe) today.
So out i will go to finish Winterizing tasks.
Pic of Pond still with waterfall going and Ice around the bottom. Sun melted some already.
Have to take up netting and scoop out leaves, get icer in there and make plug connection watertight.
Clear off the deck of 'non-winter' things as I don't think I will be hanging out on the deck this winter.
Then move fabric carport frame into coop area and play with how I want to cover it.
