Winter is coming

Hello, I live in Michigan and as you can imagine, it gets pretty cold. I have a freeranging peacock and hen who I close up in the barn at night . There is an evil rumor of a polar vortex (cold as hell) winter that may hit us. I could put in a heating bulb but they roost in the rafters at night so therefore worthless. What do you folks do?

If I were going to provide some heat I would make a heated roost. Be sure you have a flat 2x4 for them to roost on so the toes don't get frost bit.

In my pens I usually do heated roosts or I run a small heater depending on how bad it gets.

I'm in the UP and I've never had a problem with my India Blues. They are happy as long as they have full bellies and shelter from the wind and snow.
