Winter Olympic Games

I've been kind of watching them, occassionally.

Did anyone else watch anything else last night that I missed?

an american got gold i think in moguls

We watch the Olympics, both summer & winter RELIGIOUSLY! I'm sad that they are running so late into the middle of the night, it's unfortunate to be in the EST zone. We are both athletes though and very patriotic, avid skiers - well DH more than me. So heck yeah!!!
Today has been a good day too, lots of great athletes.

Whenever there isn't an American competing though, I faithfully pull for Canada. Such a lovely country!!!

I am now watching one that makes no sense. Cross country skiing and rifle firing. What??

The Biathlon I believe.

Have you ever cross country skied? It must be the HARDEST physical activity there is to do... and then to stop, shoot accurately (no shaking, no breathing hard, complete & total focus & still body) etc...

very difficult.

I wonder how the fabled Greeks of Olympus would feel about some of the games we play today.

Ya know.. the games in Sarajevo really inspired my life... I wouldn't be the woman I am today without having seen them.

Biathlon makes plenty of sense if you look at its origins .

Archaeological findings along the rugged northern coast of Norway dating back 4,000 years and Neolithic carvings traced in Russia were the first record of biathlon. These pictograms and carvings depict men on planks of wood, very similar to modern day skis, holding weapons.

When you live in cold snowy countries and you're at war what better way to get around and kill the enemy?

Did anyone watch the Nordic Combined today? An American won the first ever medal in Olympic history in the event and he got a silver! Johnny Spillane.
And the event started back in 1924 I think.

I watched womans freestyle skiing last night and we got the gold and silver I believe. Apollo was amazing! The us won bronze too, such a courageous comeback for him(sorry can't remember his name)

I LOVE curling. It's the one sport I think I could do. Even DH thinks so and he knows I'm a klutz. Heck if I knew how to ski I could make a stab at biathlon, I can shoot pretty well though I know the pressure would probably kill me.

cute! different strokes for different folks.

in my competitive and more fit days, i would've been a better match for the summer Olympics & gymnastics... but this year we have SkiCross... maybe.. just maybe I could hang... at the BACK OF THE pack of course

I came to skiing late in life.. just the last few years.
